Suit Up and Ride 2011--Suit Up and Ride suits Cadel Cadel Evans, winner of the 2011 Tour de France, ditched his yellow jersey and donned a suit and tie to ride in the final of Orygen Youth Health’s corporate team cycling event Suit Up and Ride on Friday, 25th November 2011. Cadel joined the Grocon team to race against the Bike Force Team, which was joined by Matt Goss, in the finals. “Gossie” and the Bike Force boys took out the honours to win Suit Up and Ride for 2011. Earlier in the morning of Suit Up and Ride, Matt Tilley from Fox FM challenged Cadel to a “Champ vs Chump” race. Over a two week period, Fox FM listeners were encouraged to donate to Orygen Youth Health to give Matt Tilley a chance at knocking off the “champ” over a 5km race. Orygen Youth Health has been overwhelmed by the support from the community for this event. Donations through Fox reached an astounding $120,000. In the end, Matt Tilley prevailed prompting Cadel to ask after the ride “Does that make...
Another great Suit Up and Ride took place at Waterfront City in the Docklands last Friday. Cadel, his wife Chiara, Matt Goss and Clare Bowditch joined 56 teams of the quirkiest clad cyclists ever seen in a race against the clock. Thanks to the wonderful fund raising efforts of Fox FM's Matt and Jo, plus the generous donations from our teams, we have raised a substantial amount of money that will make a significant difference to the work Orygen Youth Health does with young people with a mental illness. The exact amount will be announced later in the week. We couldn't do it without our fantastic sponsors: City of Melbourne, Waterfront CIty, NewQuay, MMG and Frank Health Insurance. Special thanks to Ernst & Young who raised over $20,000 for Suit Up and Ride and OYH through their treadmill challenge, auctions and the delicious Maggie Beer BBQ last Friday. Thank you Maggie too for the yummy condiments and ice cream. Photos will be added later this week, some have already been poste...
